Recycled Hardcore Aggregate supplier

With plenty of concerns amongst businesses and consumers surrounding the environment, the pressure lies on the construction sector to use more materials that are made sustainably. As a result, recycled aggregates are becoming the go-to, popular, cost-effective alternative.

While recycled aggregates are cheaper to purchase, they remain the same standard as new aggregates with no compromise on quality.

In essence, using recycled aggregate will lower carbon footprint, reduce harmful emissions and decrease the overall, usually high construction cost.

Recycled aggregate can be used with the same advantage as new aggregate, for example, in general bulk fills, fill for drainage compositions and overall road construction.

What is Recycled Hardcore Aggregate?

Recycled aggregate is a product of repurposing materials used in construction. Recycling aggregate begins with removing the concrete, breaking it apart, and crushing it to create new materials.

Recycled Aggregate in Construction

The construction industry not only sources recycled aggregate but also puts it to good use.

Recycled aggregate is usually made from sub-base materials but can equally be paired with new aggregates to create other solutions.

CA6 recycled PCC, and Grade 8 recycled are well-known aggregates made from recycled concrete. They will often be used as a base to lay road infrastructure.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Recycled aggregates are environmentally friendly and are the next step for the construction industry to keep emissions low and the environment cleaner.

Using recycled gravel means less mining, which, in turn, causes much less danger to the environment. In addition, landfill regulations are becoming more refined, making it tricky to dispose of certain materials.

With recycling, the disposal of materials via a reusable solution is much more favoured. For example, concrete is one of the biggest space consumers in landfill. By simply recycling concrete and other materials, landfill waste is massively reduced, and the need for aggregate becomes a much easier process compared to the usual extraction process.

Where it comes from

Our aggregate materials are obtained from our quarries in Stamford and Rutland, and other surrounding areas.

Most quarry material is naturally formed, so shape, size and colour will vary. It all comes down to the screening process to achieve uniform and consistent material properties. Aggregates are as good as their processing. Through mining, crushing, washing and separating, these processes only, when delivered skillfully with the best machine technology and workforce, can produce a quality aggregate. And that success relies on our industry’s hardworking men and women and our great team here at Bullimores Aggregates.
